Students who complete the Optical Technology Certificate Dispensing Program will be qualified to adapt and fit corrective eyewear, including eyeglasses, as prescribed by ophthalmologists or optometrists; to assist patients in selecting appropriate frames; and to prepare work orders for ophthalmic laboratory technicians. Includes instruction in geometrical optics, ophthalmic optics, anatomy of the eye, prescription interpretation, contact lens adaptation and fitting, and prosthesis fitting, facial and eye measuring.

To earn a Certificate of Achievement in Optical Technology – Dispensing, students must complete 13 specified units below

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: 

• accurately fabricate, fit, and dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses for clients.
• pass the ABO and NCLE examinations to be licensed as a Dispensing Optician.
