Automotive Emissions Systems, Certificate of Achievement
Automotive Emissions Systems, Certificate of Achievement
The Certificate of Achievement in Automotive Emissions Systems provides training on vehicle emission systems, including their basic operation, function, service, and maintenance. The systems include on-board diagnostics (OBD I and OBD II), engine, exhaust, and fuel emission systems. This certificate is designed to prepare students to become employees for entry-level positions at local automotive dealerships, independent repair facilities, national repair chains, fleets, and parts suppliers. The applicable courses are National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) compliant. Oxnard College is a Bureau of Automotive Repair Certified Training Institution for the SMOG courses and houses the State referee. This coursework allows students to apply for the California Bureau of Auto Repair Smog Technician license that allows an individual to inspect and certify emission control systems on vehicles subject to the smog check program at licensed stations in all areas of the state. A student earning this certificate and the California Smog inspectors license will more likely be hired at a higher wage due to their acquired skill and training.
