Coastal environmental studies explore the interactions between humans and the coastal environment. It integrates topics from multiple disciplines to aid in understanding the complex interactions between humans and the intersection between ocean and land.
The A.S. in Coastal Environmental Studies is primarily intended for students pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Studies or Environmental Science at a University of California school or a school outside the UC and CSU systems after transfer. As each UC has their own requirements it is important students consult closely with a counselor when planning their course of studies. Students interested in transfer to a California State University might consider the AS-T in Environmental Science instead.
