Coastal Environmental Studies
Coastal Environmental Studies

Coastal environmental studies explore the relationships between humans and the coastal environment. It integrates topics from biological sciences, physical sciences, geosciences, and public policy to aid in understanding the complex interactions between humans and the intersection between ocean and land. Coastal environmental scientists apply scientific knowledge to understand environmental problems that impact humans, oceans, and the life within the oceans and to develop solutions to protect, preserve, and sustain natural environments.
The A.S. in Coastal Environmental Studies is primarily intended for students pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Studies or Environmental Science at a University of California school or a school outside the UC and CSU systems after transfer. As each UC has their own requirements it is important students consult closely with a counselor and refer to assist.org when planning their course of studies. Students interested in transfer to a California State University might consider the AS-T in Environmental Science instead.
