Child Development Center

Child Development Center

The Oxnard College Child Development Center (OC CDC) provides high-quality early care and education services for children ages 33 months to 5 years old.  The Center welcomes the children of Oxnard College students, employees, and community members.  It is located on the northeast corner of the campus and operates year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am–5:30 pm. The program currently offers part-day and full-day schedules to meet the needs of the community. We are licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services and administered under Title 22 regulations, LIC #561710651.

The staff and faculty acknowledge the importance of valuing every child’s culture and continuing to develop the home language. The teaching staff works collaboratively with the families and stakeholders to provide a learning environment and activities that prioritize multilingual language development and cultural responsiveness.  Our program serves as a model laboratory school for future child development professionals. College students observe classroom interactions and have hands-on experiences to blend the theoretical with the practical, integrating knowledge with experience.

Our program philosophy is that young children learn best “by doing,” and we support school readiness through a well-rounded curriculum. The daily program focuses on social and emotional development, language and literacy development, music and movement, and STEAM experiences (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). Additionally, the program promotes multilingualism and embeds Personalized Oral Language Learning (POLL) strategies to support and build dual language learners.

Registration and tuition fees are paid monthly.  We accept subsidized childcare assistance (CDR) and offer scholarships for qualified Oxnard College student-parents.  For more information, to add your child to the interest list, or to request a tour, please contact OC CDC at (805) 678-5801 or by email at occdc@vcccd.edu.
