College Strategies
Program Purpose: Students who complete college strategies courses will be able to improve learning, peer mentoring, and leadership skills.
College Strategies courses provide students the information and skills needed to take responsibility for and control of their own academic success in any learning environment. These courses emphasize critical thinking and collaboration skills.
NOTE: Some courses may have credit limitations. Refer to the Credit Limitations and UC Credit Limitations areas or see the UC Transfer Course Agreement page for details.
Develops students’ learning strategies for college and life skill success. Examines and practices critical thinking, study methods, learning styles, time management, test preparation and test-taking, and self-regulated learning. Addresses psychological, physiological, and sociological issues that impact the culture of higher education and help prepare students for college readiness.
Participate in individual and/or group tutoring designed to assist students in reviewing course material, preparing for class assignments and tests, and building study skills.
NONCREDIT Courses
Introduces methods for tutoring individuals and groups. Examines learning theories and instructional pedagogies, and provides opportunities for application of skills to tutoring sessions. Does NOT apply to Associate Degree.
