Community Behavioral Health Worker, Certificate of Achievement
The Community Behavioral Health Worker Certificate of Achievement prepares students for entry-level positions in the behavioral/mental health field. This program is designed for students who are interested in working with people with mental illness or substance use disorders. Students will have a foundational understanding of the mental health field and will learn the basic counseling skills to work with this population. All of these courses are also part of the Addictive Disorders Studies Certificate of Achievement and aligned with C-ID. Career opportunities after completion of the certificate include Behavioral Health Worker, Mental Health Worker, Social and Human Service Assistants, Substance Abuse Worker, and Addiction Counselor Assistant.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Identify the parts of case management in treatment settings.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the correct protocol in counseling clients.
- Describe symptoms of common co-occurring mental illness.
- Describe the impact that class, race, ethnicity, and gender have on treatment of mental illness and substance abuse.
- Identify the rules of confidentiality and mandated reporting in the workplace.
